Time for Reflection – A Parent’s Love

Love never gives up.

For those times that I thought ‘I can’t be bothered’, because I was tired, frustrated and fed up, I repent.

Love cares more for others than for self.

For those times I thought of the impact of your actions on MY reputation before your feelings, I repent.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.

For those times that I compared you with other children, wishing they were mine, I repent.
Love doesn’t strut, doesn’t have a swelled head…

For those times I wore your successes on my sleeve, looking down at others, I repent.
Doesn’t force itself on others, isn’t always “me first”…

For those times when I’ve shut you up, forcing my points of view on you, I repent.
Doesn’t fly off the handle…

For those times when I’ve been annoyed with you for no apparent reason, I repent.
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others…

For those times when I’ve reminded you over and over of the same wrongs, despite your apologies, I repent.
Doesn’t revel when others grovel…

For those times when I’ve felt a tinge of pleasure as you suffered for your errors, I repent.
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth…

For those times when I have been able to observe and appreciate your learning and growth, I rejoice.
Puts up with anything…

For those times when I’ve felt I can’t carry on, I repent.
Trusts God always…

For the times that God has seen us through, I am eternally grateful.

I promise for the future, that I shall
Always look for the best, never look back, but keep going to the end.

I love you.
